Eulogy to Atticus - Better Late Then Never

Eulogy to Atticus – Better Late Then Never

1/7/25

I don’t know why your death snuck up on me,
like a stab wound to the back,
It’s been so long since you’ve been gone
But still, I feel your lack.
An empty hole where once you were,
That nothing I have can fill,
I miss you so, why did you go?
My heart bleeds for you still.
Others say that I should move on
And I truly thought I had,
But time to time our sharp goodbye
Comes spinning round my head.
It’s a time like that these words do flow
So, here’s my eulogy to you.
Better late than never, my dear friend
I miss you so bad. I do.
I never wanted to say goodbye,
T’was a task hard to comprehend,
The tears fell hard as my heart broke
As it was time to give you your end.
I held you tight, I didn’t let go
Until the light had left your eyes,
I had to turn and leave you
Though you couldn’t hear my cries.
You held onto a piece of my heart,
A piece I can’t take back,
I leave it here an ode to you,
My tear-stained panic attack.
You always had a special thing,
A way to make me smile,
No matter what, you’d help me laugh,
Even if only for a while.
Your constant warmth and soft sweet touch
Kept the darkest demons away,
You were a constant column of support
That kept my depression at bay.
With you, you took all of my light
The joy that I needed most,
It took some time, but I’m alright,
Though I still push off your ghost.
It’ll haunt me forever, until my death,
And it’ll hurt, and I may cry,
I miss you so, but you had to go,
You were sick, a death we couldn’t deny.
But it’s time to step away
Though all your memories I hold dear,
I miss you so, I know you had to go,
Sometimes I still feel you near.
So, I’ll say goodbye just one more time
As your memory I hold close,
I miss you so and I won’t let go,
Your memory is there when I need it most.

A Slow & Boring Death

A Slow & Boring Death

12/24/24

It’s the day I die of boredom,
It’s possible, it’s true,
You wouldn’t think it could happen,
Until it’s happening to you.

You stand around just doing nothing,
In my case, because I’m at work.
But since there’s nothing to do today
I just stand in the back and lurk.

It doesn’t have to be at work you’ll find
When you end up with nothing to do,
The boredom swallows you up real tight,
And you’ll die right out of the blue.

Eulogy for Nate

Eulogy For Nate
9/22/2016 (ish)

Nate is dead, Nate is dead –
Pushing up daisies in a flower bed.
Worked too hard to earn his bread,
Ended up taking the slack instead.

Nate has died, Nate has died –
Took too much damage to his pride,
Fell down dead upon the line,
The team broke down and the managers cried.

Nate had tried, Nate had tried –
To got against the rising tide,
But the managers would not follow his guide
So Nate fell down and his ass got fried.

We lost our friend, lost our friend –
But now down that path we'll all soon tread
As the wave of incompetence starts to spread
The whole line just might soon be dead.

To my dear love who lost his life
Who as a ghost now hides our knives
So in a moment of panic and strife
We can't possibly take one anothers lives.

His ghost still laughs, you can hear it laugh –
When you walk in and go to the back.
But if you cannot hear his laugh,
Beware his wrath, beware his laugh.

(He's not really dead, no truly dead,
He's not coming back to get revenge,
Chances are he's safely in his bed

Looking to the next day with dread.)

Eternal Silence

Eternal Silence
November 11, 2010

Silence…
I sit in the silence of the ever waning moon,
And wait for the day that will come all too soon.
The day that I know will eventually come,
The day when I will no longer see the sun.
So quiet…
The autumn day is so quiet and empty,
And as I sit there in silence I know that I am ready.
The end is finally drawing near
But now I know there is nothing to fear.
Eternal…
The eternal peace is coming to me
And now I know I will finally be free
From this quiet and silent world
So I shall now die with my wings unfurled.

Death of a Pen

Death of a Pen
10/4/2011

This empty pen
Shall soon be dead,
And we shan’t see it
          No more.

Life blood runs low
And soon shall not flow
It knows not what
          This was for.

This poor, sad poem
Will not go in a tome
And will soon be forgotten
          With age.

As the pen cruelly dies
They stutter with lies
On how the ink was spilled
          On the page.

Its death now shall end
But it never will mend
The sadness of an
          Untimely death.

Goodbye, is the cry
As it flows to the sky,
And now there’s no more
          To be red.

All Alone

Just a note before I put this poem in here: there are two versions. One I wrote a long time ago and a revised version from recently.

All Alone
Date Unknown

A sky, deep blue,
Splattered with red,
I can still remember
The last words you said.

My love, my life,
To be laid in stone,
He left me here
To be all alone.

All Alone
3/6/2012

The sky, stark blue,
Splattered and stained.
The memories broken,
Your smile, the same.

I still remember
The soft words we said,
A promise, a kiss,
Our lives to be led.

It then, all but shattered,
Your light disappeared,
Silence descended,
You abandoned me here.

My love, my life,
To be laid in stone.
Now I stand here,
I stand all alone.
