Make the Madness Disappear

Make the Madness Disappear
2/27/2015

I’d give anything to make the madness disappear
And stop the spinning in my head
But all I can do is grit my teeth and persevere.

My worries whirl and with my sleep they interfere
As I lay staring at the ceiling above my bed
I’d give anything to make the madness disappear.

The panic hits me in the chest like a spear
And I can’t breathe through the insistent dread
And all I can do is grit my teeth and persevere.

But through my pounding heart I cannot hear
Anything else that ever is said
And I’d give anything to make the madness disappear.

My wayward breath is a cruel mutineer,
My chest hurts so much; I think I may be dead
But all I can do is grit my teeth and persevere.

Through the panic and worry, I can’t stop the tears
I have no choice but to let it consume me instead
And I’d give anything to make the madness disappear
But all I can do is grit my teeth and persevere.

Lies

Lies
4/8/2014

No matter what they say, I’ll be okay
You can no longer hurt me,
So I continue to live to see another day.

I laugh, I smile, and I am gay,
I play and dance and sing,
So no matter what you say, I am okay.

Though my heart got hurt, that’s gone away
I’ve locked it with a skeleton key,
So I will continue to live another day.

I travel my own path because we split ways
And though you may not see
That no matter what I say, I’ll be okay.

In a dark room I sigh the night away
And I try not to hate the he
Who forces me to live to see another day.

He left me alone and there’s hell to pay
But since I can’t toss him into the sea
No matter what I say, I’ll be okay
And continue to live to see another day.

Stitches

Stitches
3/9/11

Stitches sown on scars will tatter
And that may eternally be my fate,
But to me, it does not matter.

Since I am now expecting, I try to scatter
Away from the malicious man I chose to date.
Stitches sown on scars will tatter.

“Rosie,” he sighed through my inept chatter,
Stepping solidly closer with his stalking gait,
But to me, it does not matter.

Now I will never hear the soft pitter-patter
Of my child’s little feet – at this rate
Stitches sown on scars will tatter.

Dropped, like a frozen rose, I shatter,
Extended belly is no longer my state,
But to me, it does not matter.

My world has been scattered due to his ceaseless batter,
For my child and I, help arrived too late.
Stitches sown on scars now tatter
But to me, it does not matter.

Inspiration

Inspiration
3/29/2012

In silence, I sit, an empty shell,
My mind, blank like a slate,
And suddenly inspiration starts to swell.

In this story I don’t know how to tell,
I find the right words always come too late.
In silence, I sit, an empty shell.

And then my consciousness starts to spell
The words, and they don’t wait,
And suddenly inspiration starts to swell.

In other’s words, I always dwell,
As they’re dangled in front of me like bait,
But in silence, I sit, an empty shell.

So I take these words out of their jail
To quell this burning fire I cannot sate,
And suddenly inspiration starts to swell.

For words are things that I know all too well
And to forever spill them is my fate,
For in silence, I sit, an empty shell
And suddenly inspiration starts to swell.
