The Season of Change

The Season of Change

12/22/24

It is today, the season of change
A time for us to move on,
Away from what we know, to make our way forward,
And take stock of what has begun.

It may be quite hard to admit
That thing that you don’t want to know,
But we must truly know it or we will grow stagnant
And now is the right time to grow.

I see that you need it, so just take a minute
To process the knowledge, you have gained.
The truth is you need it, it’s time to admit it,
Even if life is never the same.

You are who you are, don’t you dare let them change you,
Or tell you what it is you should be.
For this life is yours, so be who you want,
Only then will you finally be free.

Floating in the Ocean

Floating in the Ocean
1/6/2015

The seas are now changing and I must be strong,
I hold the wheel steady though so much could go wrong.
I’ve begun to feel dizzy, I can’t keep my head
But I have so few options, no fallback plans instead
Of my falling, my vessel’s drifting off course,
I grip only the wheel and hope it doesn’t get worse.
I can’t see the shore, there’s no land to be seen
As I drift steadily off course, I can’t contain the scream
Of horror and terror, the desperate pleas
To weigh down the anchor and get out of the seas.
I’m floating in the ocean, no land to be found,
I cannot see sunlight and my feet can’t touch ground.
The storm keeps on brewing that threw me off course
So I turn to the heavens, and pray for recourse
But nothing has changed and the quest only gets harder
But what choice do I have but to find some smarter
Plan to reset my path and I must go somewhere
So I pull out a map and push away despair.
I must draw a new course and make it my own,
Though I fight through rough waters, and the seeds I have sown
Of my drift in the ocean, but I can put it to right,
I’ll find a way through the darkness and turn on the light,
Through the clouds and the shadows, through wave after wave,
I’ll fight mighty monsters and make myself brave.
I’ll journey through unknown with no end in sight
But I know I can do it if I put up a fight!
I’ll find land again and find my own place
Though I may be treading water, gladly I’ll face
A future that’s uncertain, a black wall of rain,
I’ll push past the lost love and push past the pain
To a land of great beauty where I know I belong.
The journey may be rough, uncertain and long
If I find my own happiness it cannot be wrong,
So though it may be hard, I have to be strong,
Even if that means my float in the ocean I must prolong
Because one day I’ll reach shore where I can burst into a song
Of joyous occasion where my future is plain
Where all my uncertainty has been strangled and slain.

Take Off That Mask

Take Off That Mask
Date Unknown

She was always hiding
Behind her veil of make-up,
I was her friend so
I said, “Please take off that mask.”

She refused to listen,
We started falling apart,
Her eyes no longer glistened
Behind that awful mask.

I just couldn’t stand it,
She always tried to hide.
She said she wouldn’t be popular,
If she took off her mask.

She yelled at me
When I suggested it,
Why couldn’t she see?
All her make-up is is a mask.

She claimed she needed the make-up,
Without it she was ugly,
She would cry on my shoulder,
But she kept the mask.

We really began to separate,
We saw less of each other,
It was lonely at night
Thinking about her mask.

I pleaded her to take
Off her layers of guilt,
Piled on with make-up,
That is now her mask.

Her true self is hidden
Under those awful layers,
If only, if only
She’d take off her mask.

We shared a bond
That shattered into pieces,
We walked a different path,
Mine without a mask.

I still miss her sometimes,
But now I’m over it,
But even in my dreams,
I still see her mask.

My Journey

My Journey
4/12/10

My journey, my travels.
The places I go,
The people I meet,
The seeds I sow.

The gentle hand, the loving words,
I keep on moving,
Keep moving forward,
I keep walking.

My feet do not stop,
My journey moves on,
As I leave behind
The sunset and dawn.

As I move, following the road,
I leave people behind,
People I’ve come to care for,
Because I’ve new treasures to find.

It’s my blood, it longs for travel,
So I continue to move,
I continue to follow the road,
With nothing to prove.

How long, how far
This road shall take me
I know not,
All I can do is wait and see.

The end, my journey,
Still is far from my sight,
So I’ll keep moving,
Until I’m ready for flight.

My wings, I shall spread,
When I’m ready to sore,
But until then, my journey
Shall continue forever more.

Disappear with the Gust

This is another one that I wrote along time ago and recently rewrote so I'm going to put both versions up for you to read.

Disappear With the Gust
Date Unknown

It pushes through me,
It rushes on and on,
Makes me feel altogether,
Like your weakest pawn.
Everyone knows me,
Through your eyes,
You don’t care
If it burns my mind.
You push me forward,
It gives me pain and anger.
Someone tells me
Later you’ll thank her.
I don’t care what you say
I won’t be very thankful.
I know you better than you know
So I know that you are hateful.
Just leave me lying here,
Lying I the dust,
Someday you’ll regret it,
When I disappear with the gust.

Disappear With the Gust
10/2/2014

It pulses through me,
It rushes on and on,
Defeat envelopes me
Until I’m your weakest pawn.
The image of me that’s seen is murky
As they peer at me through your eyes,
You chuckle darkly and morosely
As I tread water and scream to the skies.
You push randomly on my buttons
Bringing forth red pain and flashing anger.
I can’t seem to remember who I am
As I cast out to sea but lose my anchor.
I slip and slide on dangerous ground
And for that, to you I’m thankful.
But I can see through you’re constructed lies,
I can see your soul is dark and resentful.
You do what you can to drown others,
You bring forth the blackest part of our souls.
I won’t put up with this treatment
And I won’t follow your scripted roles.
I know one day you’ll just leave me lying here,
Lying broken and bleeding in the dust,
So while I still have the option
I’ll abandon my post and disappear with the gust.
