Home Leaving

Home Leaving

When I leave this place
Never to return,
Would you even show
Me your concern?

Would my last laughter
Resonate down the halls?
Will my essence remain
Like a picture on the walls?

Would my name, my soul
Still echo from lips?
Or will I be erased
By a solar eclipse?

And if my name remains
How long will that last?
When will we move on?
And stop living in the past?

But I move on,
I know that I must
Because I know you won’t
And that I can trust.

Still I know that I’ll be loved
And I’ll never disappear.
I have left, but that doesn’t mean
That I am no longer here.
